sseko

Photobucket
I love everything about this amazing shoe company, Sseko (pronounced say-ko).

Not only is the product beautiful, so is the mission and the back story! I can't get enough of their super-stylish website. I just ordered a pair of these lovely, incredibly versatile sandals, along with two extra sets of interchangeable straps (brilliant!).

You should too.

i've done it

I've gone and jumped on the trendy-granny-sandal bandwagon. I have to say, after padding around town in these for a while, they might just be the most comfy shoes I've ever worn. Don't tell, but maybe I'm even eyeballing a second pair...

Um, can we just pause for a second to soak up the awesomeness that is the Spring 2011 Collection from Chie Mihara? Goodness gracious these are some off-the-hook shoes:

You're welcome.

Marimekko for Converse

I am weary of snow boots. With Spring approaching (Spring is approaching, right?), I wouldn't mind rocking a fresh new pair of canvas sneakers. I think these Marimekko for Converse would do the trick quite nicely!

Cute Boots

November 9, 2010
How flippin' cute are these little red wellies sent to me for review by the Canadian shoe company, Cougar? When I first took them out of the box, I was a little, "enh" -- they're not something I would have necessarily been drawn to in a store. But trying them on, I totally fell for the sassy tomato red and the little stripey woolen ankle details. Pretty soon I was formulating my whole outfit around them, and actually bemoaning the fact that the forecast was predicting a precipitation-free, absolutely beautiful day.

I wore them despite the ample sunshine, and never regretted it for a minute. We were out all day and walked for all over the Upper West Side and the better part of the American Museum of Natural History, too! They never felt heavy or hot, and unlike so many pairs of new shoes, they didn't rub at all, even with just a thin sock on. They're supposed to be waterproof and well insulated, so I look forward to trying them out again soon in inclement weather.

What do you think? Would you wear these?

Whitney Biennial 2010 + The Walk Home

Yesterday, my dad, W, and I went to the Whitney to check out the 2010 Biennial. Photos weren't allowed in the galleries (a guard yelled at us after we snapped the first one, eeks!) so I took a few shots of the cool lights in the lobby and cafe, plus this adorable one of grandfather and grandson giggling away near the gift shop.

When we left, the rain had subsided so we decided to walk home. Here are a few highlights of the stroll...

(1) glittery gorgeousness at Christian Louboutin, (2) cute confections and (3) apothecary jar awesomeness at Dean and Deluca, (4) my mom's-eye-view of my son, and (5) the city skyline as seen from the north end of the Reservoir:

I Heart My New Shoes

Last week I visited my friend Ivona at her amazing boutique, Loveday 31. I picked up these vintage pumps for a song, and I can't wait to wear them...(maybe for a Valentine's Day hot date with my hubby?)

Pretty & Fun for Your Weekend

This fun blog envisions words in new ways...
These pretty Swedish clogs are on my dream-shoe wish list...
What a fun concept for all of us city-dwellers (at least those with balconies!): urban camping...
Have a wonderfully pretty and fun weekend! The Kiddos and I will be going downtown tomorrow to have fun at an Our Time workshop, and while we're in the neighborhood we fully intend to take an Autumn stroll along the beautiful High Line. What are your plans?

I have always kind of wanted a pair of Toms. But boy, was my shoe-lust sparked last week when I saw the cutest woman in the East Village sporting a pair of SPARKLY SILVER ONES!!! Just sayin'...

Shoe Comfy Cuteness

Believe it or not, if I haven't given birth by this Saturday, I will be attending the wedding of a good friend that evening! I am sooo excited to join in the celebration of this happy occasion, although I have to admit that pulling an outfit together for a wedding at 40 weeks of pregnancy has been a bit of a fashion challenge!

For a while now I have known that I would wear the convertible jersey wrap gown that I picked up at the Butter by Naudia sample sale, but I have been stumped about what shoes to wear. I am definitely past the point of being able to manage for any length of time in heels, but I wanted something a little snazzier than the plain-jane flats laying in my closet.

Then I remembered seeing this new line of shoes called Marais USA being buzzed about online a few months ago. So I went to their website and found the perfect thing; these little wedge-heeled beauties in the most eye-poppingly pretty fuchsia suede:
Here's a side view, in "tomato" red:
Well, I got them in the mail yesterday and wore them out for the first time today and I just LOVE them. Super comfy for such a cute shoe, and I LOVE the color. They are available online from Marais USA, and at Urban Outfitters.

I look forward to rocking them in all my gigantic pregnant glory on Saturday!

I Am Now a Total Cliche

Because now, not only am I a
breastfeeding,
babywearing,
home-birthing,
co-sleeping,
farmer's-market-going,
resident of the Upper West Side...

I just bought a pair of Birkenstocks.*
*In my own defense, let me clarify that this purchase was hastened by the fact that I can no longer bend over to buckle my super-cute Steve Madden gladiator sandals.  So there.  Also, not having owned a pair of Birkenstocks since approximately 1994, I had forgotten how insanely comfortable they are.  These are fresh out of the box and they feel like heaven for my feet.

Tiny Toms

I've been thinking about buy a pair of Toms for myself this summer, but I had no idea they make little teeny-tiny ones too!  Not only are they super-cute and comfy-looking, for every pair of Toms sold, the company will donate a pair to a child in need!  Via My Favorite Things.

The Belly, Week 21

This is really towards the end of week 21, but I've been too busy until now to stop and document the Belly.

The baby continues to assert itself, dancing around enough to rival the in-utero gymnastics of its older brother, circa early 2007.  The fetal Kiddo was so active that I once responded to his constant kicking by spontaneously creating a punk-inspired mini-verse, which went like this:

My spleen is not a trampoline/yeah, yeah, yeah!

I'm not much of a lyricist, so that was pretty much it, I just found myself singing those few words over and over again whenever I would feel a particularly aggressive series of kicks.  Anyway, I think it might be time to start reprising that song...maybe I can add an extra verse.

I'm wearing an old (non-maternity) dress from the Gap layered over one of my trusty Boob tanks, and my new Steve Madden gladiator sandals.  It's 70 degrees outside today!  I can wear sandals!!!

Outfit Update: Shoes & Shadow

The highest shoes I've ever worn, from Topshop (wish me luck that I don't break my neck!) and eyeshadows from MAC.

Stay tuned to find out what I'm wearing between my head and my toes on Monday night.
