Celebration

On Sunday we threw a little party at our place for a small group of family and friends in celebration of the Kiddo's first year. I have bunches of photos so I'm going to spread them out over several posts, but to set the mood I thought I'd share some of the atmosphere first...

I bought plain cupcakes from Fresh Direct and my sister spruced them up with the multicolored sprinkles and custom-made flags (which I ordered from Etsy seller Buttercream Bee). The Mexican oilcloth tablecloth is from Pine Creek Mercantile, which I read about and fell in love with on this blog.

(thanks to Riki and Erin for the photos)

Speedster Love

Lately the Kiddo has developed an affection for all things wheeled (he loves to make these amazing motor sounds, and most days he signals his readiness for adventure by climbing up on his stroller while shooting me the intense, "C'MON, let's GO, MOM" look).

In light of these recent developments, and with the Kiddo's first birthday rapidly approaching, I've been on the prowl for a fun toy vehicle for him to tool around the apartment in. My search culminated this morning with what I think might be the perfect item:

Witness the Metal Speedster from Kidding Around...

Suggested for ages one and up, priced reasonably, and combining a fabulous vintage aesthetic with, well wheels, I think this little hot rod might be just the ticket!

Jazz Age Inspiration

You must check out the gorgeous photos taken by The Sartorialist at the Jazz-Age Lawn Party on Governor's Island this past weekend!
And how fabulous is this poster advertising the annual event? T, the Kiddo and I are SO there next year!

My Sister is Here for the Summer. Or: Why I've been a Bad Blogger

This is my little sis, Erin:

Not only is she a total fox, she's really fun and cool and smart and funny and just an all-round kick-ass person. She arrived in NYC a couple of weeks ago (from Mississippi) to spend the summer with us and we have been having such a good time that as you might have noticed, I have practically abandoned my lil' ol' blog! Here we are, chillin' in Sheep's Meadow with the Kiddo on a recent Sunday afternoon...
