Etsy Find of the Day: EcoLoops

I just discovered a wonderful designer on Etsy, Sarah Dible. Sarah makes a fabulous line of jewelry out of recycled materials, which she calls EcoLoops. Here's some information in Sarah's own words:

"I have had a serious dilemma with the amount of junk mail that I have to recycle. I have signed up with Green Dimes to try to limit how much gets sent to me but I am still getting more than I like. What can I do with all the paper waste and junk mail I receive other than send it to recycling? I have wanted to create something with it for quite some time and have tried a few things and they just weren’t quite what I liked or wanted until now. I have started making jewelry and earring discs with this junk mail that has been piling up. I have used many things like cereal boxes, mail order catalogs, post cards and the top to the oatmeal canister to create these abstract designs on these jewelry discs. They are constructed with non-toxic adhesives and glazes and are all made out of recycled paper from my home. They are lightweight and have a beautiful finish."

Fabulous Home Birth Mom/Daughter of the Day: Lisa Bonet and Zoe Kravitz

Lisa Bonet has had more than one home birth, but the product of her first is starting to emerge as quite an "it" girl. I've been seeing Zoe Kravitz, Bonet's born-at-home daughter with Lenny Kravitz, everywhere lately. Here she is in a recent spread in Elle Magazine, shot by Gilles Bensimon:...and on the cover of Jalouse:...Zoe even showed up on Perez Hilton today, earning a rave from Perez for wearing this edgy ensemble to a screening of My Blueberry Nights on Wednesday:

Ok, Shoes are Still the New Shoes

Slings are the New Shoes

With the birth of the Kiddo came a new obsession for me: Babywearing. In the last nine months, my preferred method of getting around town/across the country with the little guy has been with him on me, not in a stroller or in a carseat. As a result, I have amassed quite the collection of carriers...I have a Babyhawk mai tai, a Didymos wrap, a Hotsling, a New Native sling, a Maya Wrap ring sling, a Baby Bjorn, and an Ergo carrier. Despite this already impressive selection, I still manage to get all worked up with desire when I see something I don't have. In much the same way that I used to flip when sighting the *perfect* shoe to add to my wardrobe, now I go gaga for babywearing accoutrements!

The Making of a Miniature Fashionista

Yesterday the Kiddo and I met up with Uncle Angel for a trip to Soho. The mission was to find the Kiddo's first pair of real shoes, to go with the outfit we're creating for the Our Time Gala (so far the outfit consists of an insanely cute miniature linen Sean John suit with pocket square which we picked up last week at the discount store Daffy's). Angel is my fashion soul mate, and we always love a good reason to shop, and what could be a better reason to shop than to assemble the fly threads for the Kiddo's first big social extravaganza?!? When I spotted the little suit at Daffy's, Angel immediately envisioned it styled with classic shell-toe Adidas sneaks and t-shirt or hoodie. Well, we headed straight for the Adidas store yesterday, and this is what we scored:
I can barely take the cuteness! You should see them on the Kiddo! OMG. I'm going to try to be good and withhold more pictures of the outfit until we have it all together and then I'll post a big reveal, but I just couldn't resist posting a pic of the shoes.

Meanwhile, the Adidas store is so fun! I had to take a photo of this painted wingback chair in their showroom, because I've been contemplating doing something similar with a thrift-store chair I picked up a while ago:
