Fundraiser for Japan

We are all heartbroken, watching the horrifying events that are unfolding in Japan. It is so easy to feel overwhelmed and helpless in the face of such massive suffering, and yet it is of paramount importance that we gather our resources and reach out to the victims in every way possible to help them survive and rebuild. It is in this spirit of hope and love that Sakura Bloom has decided to spearhead a three-day fundraiser to benefit the Japan relief efforts.

Sakura Bloom is raffling three slings from the Essential Collection, and the winners will be free to choose between linen or silk in their favorite colorway.

Tickets are available for purchase by clicking here. The more you give, the more chances there are to win: $10 will get you one ticket, $25 will get you three tickets, and $50 will get you ten tickets.

All proceeds from this fundraiser will be donated to the Red Cross.

Engulfed

I went to the MoMA with my dad on Friday (my parents are in town visiting for the next week). Standing in front of Jackson Pollock's massive Number 1A, I meditated on the loss, chaos, and suffering in Japan. My heart goes out to everyone there. The event is beyond comprehension -- I can't conceive of words that could possibly fit the scope of the tragedy there. But when I looked at this wild, chaotic, and yet somehow inherently ordered painting I felt a resonance with the scary unpredictability and fierce beauty of the cosmos. I felt conscious of and very grateful for life.

That's all...I just wanted to share.

Have you read about how a bunch of scientists, engineers, and a couple of balloon pilots got together and re-created the flying house from the Pixar movie, Up? The whole thing was filmed as part of an upcoming National Geographic Channel series called How Hard Can it Be?, and they broke the world record for largest balloon cluster flight ever attempted while they were at it. The photos are amazing.
