Snowed In

It's hard to believe that Christmas has already come and gone. We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at home, wrapping and unwrapping, playing, cooking, eating, watching movies, and nursing a family-sized case of the sniffles. Today we were supposed to catch a plane to Miami to spend the rest of the holiday with Taro's grandparents and mom, but with a bona fide blizzard whirling away in NYC our flight was cancelled. We are sad not to be heading to see family in warmer climes, but with our sore throats and runny noses it's probably for the best that we stay inside for at least another day, cocooned in blankets, watching still more movies in our PJ's, all while on hold with the airline ;)

As you might have noticed, I totally stopped doing the December Photo Project a couple of weeks ago, just when things were getting good! My computer had a huge meltdown, I had to get a new hard drive, we all started to get sick, you know -- excuses excuses. Well, I thought I would make for a little bit of my photo-truancy by giving you December 24, 25, and 26, above.

I hope you are having a sweet and cozy holiday, filled with love!

XOXO, Leigh

December Photo Project, Day 13

I'm giving you a bonus photo today,
to make up for the day that I missed.

Also, because I couldn't decide
between the one that I took right before he noticed me,
and the one that I took right when he did ;)

December Photo Project, Day 12

Waiting on the platform to catch the Metro North train up to Westchester
to see cousins Mac and Finn in their stage debut,
a production of Frog and Toad.
J wore his frog boots in honor of the occasion.
The show was wonderful.

December Photo Project, Days 10 & 11

Last night, taken from inside a cab, as we headed home
from dinner with friends.

December Photo Project, Day 11
Today we visited the Met with Jen and her kiddos.
I had never been to this beautiful little nook before.
We had fun watching the koi swim for a while
(there's a pond and a waterfall nestled amongst those rocks),
and felt completely transported out of the rush of the season and the city.

December Photo Project, Day 5

Yesterday was a big day of celebration: two of the kiddos' best friends had birthdays so we shuttled around town partying it up. We all had soooooo much fun and are so grateful to have Julian (age 5) and Livia (age 2) in our lives. Happy Birthday, and lots of love, guys!

This photo is of Livia's birthday castle, which her parents made by repurposing cardboard boxes, which they joined with tape and script fasteners before painting the whole structure white. At the party all the guests got to help decorate the castle with paint, glitter, feathers, fuzzy pompoms, felt, stickers, and markers. It was way magical. The whole project was inspired by this post on Filth Wizardry, but I love that Livia's mom and dad really took the idea to the next level for their party. Now Livia has her own playhouse, made with love!

December Photo Project, Day 2

Not really a great photo, but it captures a great moment.
Love that smile.

December Photo Project, Day 1

December Photo Project, Day 1
At the invitation of my friend, Rebecca, I have joined the December Photo Project. The idea is simple: Take one photo for the first 25 days of December. In this month of celebrations, there is something new to see each day! I look forward to seeing what I see...

I took my first entry today while the boys snoozed cozily next to each other in our bed. I love the soft topography of their perfect little backs.

December Photo Project, Day 9

Oh my goodness! In the craziness of the last week I have totally been remiss in taking a photo every day for the December Photo Project :( As of now I am re-committing to the picture-a-day challenge.

I snapped today's photo moments after these cookies came out of the oven. J and I had a blast making them from my mother's recipe and they are DELICIOUS!

This post is dedicated to the most awesomely wrong comment that someone left on the Baby Mamas video on YouTube, which completely cracked me up:

"Ugh. Stop dancing and get in the kitchen."

So, yeah, I'm able to rock the kitchen AND the music video, thankyouverymuch! LOL!!!

December Photo Project, Day 4

It was pretty warm today, so much time was spent digging in the dirt in Central Park. Notice the grubby jersey. I actually managed to get it off of him and into the laundry basket when we got home! (Yaaaay, me!!!)

Hard to believe that snow is coming tomorrow...

December Photo Project, Day 3

J made it until 6:15 pm today before konking out hard for his nap. He's been wearing his New York Knicks jersey for going on two weeks now -- the only times I've managed to get it off of him has been for baths and on Thanksgiving day (he agreed to wear a clean, button-down shirt to the festivities, bless him). Otherwise, its been all-jersey-all-the-time. During naps. During nighttime sleep. I need some kind of decoy jersey in order to wash this one! Soon I'll have no choice but to throw it in the laundry -- the toddler-induced patina is accumulating to the point of downright crustiness, lol.

December Photo Project, Day 2

Here are the remnants of the bouquet Taro gave me for my birthday. Last night I decided to salvage the blooms that were still looking vibrant, so I cut the stems down and put them in assorted tea tins. Remember my inspiration? I think it turned out pretty nicely!

December Photo Project

My blog-friend Rebecca invited me to participate in an awesome challenge she created called the December Photo Project. The event involves taking a photo every day this month and posting on your blog or flickr. To learn more and join in on the fun, click here.

This is my first entry: a photo I snapped of W this afternoon just moments before he rolled over for the very first time! A rather momentous event on this 1st day of December -- which is also his three-month birthday ;)
