A Biologist's Mother's Day Song

This may be the nerdiest, most awesome Mother's Day tribute I have ever seen. A couple of days late, but too hilarious not to post ;)

couldn't NOT post this ;)

How freaking fun and hilarious, right? I love how the Royal lookalikes are pretty convincing.

Did you watch the wedding? What did you think? I've just been catching up with a bit of the coverage online and I adore HRH Kate's dress and all the fabulous hats.

Guest Post: Anne from Tralalère on Happy Boobs

This is a promotional video for Boobs’n Burps, a store specialised in breastfeeding, located in Brussels. Its owner had worked for The Upper Breast Side in New York before she decided to export the concept to Belgium. What a brilliant idea… and such a lovely and funny video!

Anne blogs at the enormously popular and incredibly joyous Tralalère, which is one of my favorite places on the internet. Thanks, Anne! -- Leigh

Mila's Daydreams

During baby Mila's naps, mama Adele tries to imagine and capture her dreams in these fanciful (and hilarious) little photos. You have to see all of them, here. Thanks to Stephanie for the tip!

Toddlerisms

J: "Mom, is this a wornycorn or a horse?"

Me: "Um, that's a UNICORN."

J: "No it isn't. it's a horse with a party hat on."

Indeed.

Breastfeeding Beanie

This makes me laugh. It would be fun to pop it onto my child's head the next time a stranger suggests we "cover up" while breastfeeding in public (if only I had had one when this happened!!!). From Saras Stitches on Etsy. Extra awesome: The seller custom-knits these hats to match any skin/nipple tone! Via Emma Kwasnica's Facebook.

Monday Funny

I just ran across this bit of news on the New York Times Artsbeat blog: on Friday, a woman visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art fell into a Picasso Painting, causing a six-inch gash in the canvas. The story itself is interesting, but the comment thread had me rolling. My favorite line, "Someone should send this woman a bottle of wine and tickets to the next Damien Hirst exhibition." Read the whole thing, here.

Pure, Undiluted Awesome for your Sunday

Thanks to my brother for posting this on his Facebook page. It made my Sunday morning sparkle, and I hope it will brighten yours too!

We're going to a tree-trimming party today at my friend Abbey's house and I'm soooo excited to get into the Christmas spirit! What are you doing to feel festive this weekend?

December Photo Project, Day 9

Oh my goodness! In the craziness of the last week I have totally been remiss in taking a photo every day for the December Photo Project :( As of now I am re-committing to the picture-a-day challenge.

I snapped today's photo moments after these cookies came out of the oven. J and I had a blast making them from my mother's recipe and they are DELICIOUS!

This post is dedicated to the most awesomely wrong comment that someone left on the Baby Mamas video on YouTube, which completely cracked me up:

"Ugh. Stop dancing and get in the kitchen."

So, yeah, I'm able to rock the kitchen AND the music video, thankyouverymuch! LOL!!!

December Photo Project, Day 3

J made it until 6:15 pm today before konking out hard for his nap. He's been wearing his New York Knicks jersey for going on two weeks now -- the only times I've managed to get it off of him has been for baths and on Thanksgiving day (he agreed to wear a clean, button-down shirt to the festivities, bless him). Otherwise, its been all-jersey-all-the-time. During naps. During nighttime sleep. I need some kind of decoy jersey in order to wash this one! Soon I'll have no choice but to throw it in the laundry -- the toddler-induced patina is accumulating to the point of downright crustiness, lol.

A World of Laundry

I saw this fantastic image on Black Eiffel last week and I can't get it out of my head! Let's just say the idea of a world of laundry really struck a chord with me, as I have two hampers full and overflowing at the moment. Hopefully I can put a dent in the pile of dirty clothes before the holiday. Wish me luck!

What are your tactics for staying on top of the laundry when it just won't stop piling up?
